Highlight
Julie Ann has been working as a certified nurse-midwife, serving a diverse population of women, since 1995. Her dissertation research focused on lateral violence in nursing and nursing education. She has experience in nursing, specifically in mental health and maternal-child nursing. In 2022, she was named a fellow of the ACNM. Currently, she teaches in the M.S. in Nurse-Midwifery program and practices at Minnesota Women's Care. Her clinical interests include perinatal mental health, trauma-informed care, and antenatal care.

Biography
Julie Ann has served as a nurse-midwife since 1995. In addition, she volunteers monthly at a crisis pregnancy center and practices at Minnesota Women's Care. She has previously served as a co-director for a busy practice and has been an educator since 2010. She also established the first certified nurse-midwife service for the University of Chicago hospitals. At Bethel, she was part of the development and launch of the M.S. in Nurse-Midwifery program and currently serves as the program director, teaching in the program.
Awards
2024 Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award - Voted by Nurse-midwifery students at Bethel and awarded to the faculty who demonstrates excellence in teaching and midwifery.
2022 ACNM Fellowship- Fellowship in the ACNM (FACNM) is an honor given to those midwives who through the body of their lifelong work have demonstrated leadership within the ACNM, clinical excellence, outstanding scholarship, and professional achievement.
2022 Excellence in Teaching - Nominations for this award comes from the students currently enrolled in the program and is given to one teacher from a pre/accredited ACNM program “who has shown outstanding qualities for teaching, who has inspired students to excel and who repeatedly promoted high standards of midwifery education”
