All-Bethel Faculty/Staff Learning Lab: Cultivating Vocational Exploration—Strategies and Classroom Activities

This Learning Lab is a 50-minute faculty development Zoom designed to equip all Bethel University full- and part-time faculty with practical tools to integrate vocational exploration into their courses.

Agenda

Naming and Identifying Needs (20 minutes)

• Brief overview of vocation exploration 

• Faculty Discussion: As your students explore vocation, what skills, values, or mindsets will help them now and in the future? 

  • What is going well?  

  • What gaps would you like to close?

  • What do you want most from this session? 

Designing Assignments for Vocational Exploration (20 minutes)  

• Examples of effective vocational activities that were designed to address specific student needs

• Faculty Discussion/Collaboration 

  • How might you redesign an assignment/class discussion with your students’ vocational exploration needs in mind? 

Additional Resources (10 minutes) 

• Whether you want to work on sparking more vocational conversations with students or developing meaningful vocational assignments, we have a toolkit designed to support you.
