Event Description
About the Event
The recently acquired Untitled #181, a zebra in profile standing in a lush jungle landscape with many palm leaves, from the series Until the Kingdom Comes, is on view in the Harrison Photography Gallery at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA). Johan will give an artist talk at the MIA Pillsbury Auditorium. It’s open to the public and co-sponsored by Bethel University Galleries. Bethel community members are entitled to a free ticket to the talk. Reserve your spot by registering here; transportation is available for current Bethel students.
An additional selection of Johan’s work, Until the Kingdom Comes, is on exhibit in the Bethel University Olson Gallery, September 7–December 18.
About the Artist
Simen Johan’s large-scale photographs depict a natural world that is at once familiar and otherworldly. Most—but not all—of the images are intricate digital constructs incorporating elements the artist photographed in various geographical locations.
