Event Description
Abuse by the town of Fuente Ovejuna's Commander leads to anger, retribution, solidarity, and finally freedom. Fuente Ovejuna, by Lope de Vega, first published in 1619, takes place and is based on true events that occurred in Spain in 1476. The message of this political play, whose meaning is still valid today, is "the duty of all governments to give to no man placed in a position of authority the opportunity to gratify his greed for power." (Ms. McDonald)
Don't miss this intriguing play with themes relevant for today!
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French. Directed by Meg Zauner.
